Grasses are much overlooked but while walking I noticed the light bringing out the details of some pendulous grass. Gathering a few samples to take home became the start of my project. As the photography progressed I started exploring different ways to bring out the delicacy of a robust plant. I hope you enjoy this small book.

Occasional Musicians
A book of images from English and Irish Music Sessions, and from Amateur Orchestra rehearsals, showing the enthusiasm and dedication of people who are playing for themselves and their colleagues with no need for an audience.
Looking at these captured moments I’m raised up by the special character
and love shown but saddened by the age of the players and the memories of friends who are gone or who can no longer making music. This song is often played to finish a session and is on the surface, a call to pack up and go home, but the images are telling the story of players slowing, and leaving for more permanent reasons. There are worryingly few younger faces.

This is a series of photos I took over a number of years, that every time delights me and amazes me that one small place can produce so much variety. I am profoundly grateful that I have had the opportunity to photograph it, this is a lasting memory. Elizabeth
